The birthplace of Carrie Jacobs Bond is marked by two small markers and a large monument. Born in Janesville in 1862, she went on to become a composer of popular music from the 1890s through the early 1940s, including the song "I Love You Truly," which sold over one million copies. She started her own sheet music publishing company, and published books of poetry as well as creating the artwork for her sheet music cover pages. The flowers painted around the base of the monument are similar to her illustrations. In her epitaph, President Herbert Hoover called her "America's gallant lady of song." A second, small marker is located at the site of her home (no longer there) where she wrote the song "I Love You Truly."
