The Devil's Staircase segment of the Ice Age Trail travels along and up the side of the bluffs by the Rock River in Riverside Park. Native wildflowers blanket the area in spring. This mile and a half segment of the trail is for foot travel only and is family friendly. Parking, water, and restrooms are available in the park (seasonally). Pets are welcome on the trails from September 16 through May 14. The Riverside Park trailhead is not accessible by vehicle in the winter.
A map of Janesville's Trail System is available on our Resources page, and the Ice Age Trail Alliance has guidebooks and an atlas available for sale at their website store. They now have itineraries and mobile apps available. Click here to see an an up to date Wisconsin Trails Report on the Travel Wisconsin website.
