Join the Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra for a dynamic afternoon of music with a performance of Rimski-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, one of the most recognized and beautiful pieces in the orchestra repertoire. Composed in 1888, the music is based on The Thousand and One Nights, also known as The Arabian Nights. The story is about a Sultan who vows to take a new wife each night and have her executed the next morning. His latest bride, Scheherazade, succeeded in saving herself by engaging the Sultan’s interest in a series of interconnected tales, which took 1,001 nights to recount. This fundraising concert will include guest appearances by The Adrich Fruzen Concert Band and the Badger Chordhawks, as well as a large Silent Auction.
